Process

Whether working on residential or commercial projects, our design process is typically the same. This includes:

A preliminary consultation with the client, including interviews and discussion to determine the client’s needs and priorities, as well as potential challenges for the project. This initial consultation period will also include a site analysis of the property and measurements of all relevant details.

Development of concept drawings, indicating:

Overall spatial arrangements,
Existing and proposed structures,
Design layouts,
Hardscape types and textures,
Plant locations, and
Water features.

Following the production of these initial concept drawings, we will meet again with the client on site to review the drawings and discuss any changes as needed until the client is completely satisfied with the vision and the plan.

Once concept drawings have been approved, Construction Drawings are produced. These drawings will provide detailed directions to the installers of the project and include:

Additional or enhanced information culled from concept drawings and reviews,
Construction details as needed for the building contractor or carpenter, and
Permit drawings and specifications to be submitted to city agencies and inspectors, as necessary.
The Design Service phase concludes with an on-site consultation with client to review these working drawings.

After final working drawings have been agreed to, M.A.C. Design & Development, or the client’s installer of choice will get official permits as needed and begin installation and construction on the project.
